ALONGU vessels are set upon a thick base with a slightly open form that extends to a tapered edge. This bowl’s shallow depth makes it useful for a variety of dishes. ALONGU’s Tenmoku Brown finish features iron-rich black glaze which produces delicate surface patterns through crystalline reactions. This deep finish enhances vibrant dishes, highlighting the colors of your ingredients. ALONGU’s Matte Grey finish is an expression born from unglazed ceramics fired at high temperature. This neutral colorway is sure to complement a range of cuisines from around the world.

Variation:
No two glaze finishes are identical. Black iron spots are food-safe and aesthetically intentional. No two matte finishes are identical.

History:
ALONGU aims to present the beauty of nature and the individual characteristics of materials. Made in Hasami, Nagasaki prefecture, many of their porcelain vessels are finished with glazes that produce rich expressions through crystalline reactions, providing a feel for the material’s natural texture. Small dots and variations, generally considered defective, are embraced for their character as ALONGU seeks to promote the individual charms of products to manufacturers and customers alike.

Returns must be made within 2 weeks in original, unused condition with all packaging for either 1. Store credit for the full amount or 2. Refund - minus a 20% restocking fee. Tortoise does not cover the cost of return shipping or the cost of re-shipping an exchange, and the cost of shipping for returns and exchanges is the responsibility of the customer.
